these are great idea for any type of teacher. any kid in general ed will get bored of the teacher just talking the whole class time, working with the same kids every small group assigned, or not giving enough instruction will definetely not let a child succeed. so it is even more impotant for teachers to make class fun and interesting for children with special needs.

It's great to see new programs being developed. With all the advances in technology, it's important to use all the resourses we can to help everyone, especially those with disabilities, succeed.

In my opinion, suspension does nothing to correct behavior. Many times children act out because of issues they are having either at school or home or may not have good role models. By suspending them, they are being allowed to stay home and not worry about having to come to school and be responsible. We need to learn to deal with difficult behaviors in other ways.

These techniques should be taken into consideration for all students, special eduation or general education. We all have different learning and test taking styles or sometimes we are just having a hard day and could use a little extra help. Modifying the assignments or tests will help students feel more motivated because they are more likely to succeed. These types of modifications also help bring the importance of students' individual needs back as a priority like it used to be.

All students should be given the opportunity to lead as normal a life as possible. If this technology allows students to feel more included with their peers then it should be taken into consideration when writing up their IEP.

It's great that there is a world awareness day for autism but we need to keep issues like these in our hearts and minds every day. Hopefully as the message spreads that will happen.

This is an inspiring article that helps remind teachers why they are doing what they are doing and to focus on the positive. So often we only focus on negative things that impact our lives that we forget to be thankful for the positive.

I agree with Ashley. While this was a very informative video clip, I would have liked to have seen visual examples of what I was reading about.

This video was very informative. Always knowing what to look for while attending a child is important because you dont want to miss something that could be helpful to tell someone such as a doctor. However, i do wish more visuals were shown to document what was being talked about.

I thought that the video gave some good tips as to what to look for, and it could help anybody across the board see the signs and symptoms of Autsim. The key though for parents and caregivers is that they observe and watch their child carefully so they are aware of all these types of symptoms and warning signs.

All of this is good readiness that any teacher should follow (minus the IEP part). There is nothing wrong with being prepared. I job shadowed at a special needs school and the drop off and pick up of the kids on buses ran so smoothly. It was amazing!

I agree when it says "you can take the tools that you have learned and make the child and their family feel beautiful again” Help them reach their full potential despite what is going on around you." because they really do. Just as how I volunteered at couple different special education facilities, all of the teachers that i have met were very loving and caring. Even though some of the students may be difficult to handle, they are very patient and kind and have a heart for the students. They dont try to get rid of the disability but rather help the students reach their full potential.
