Interventions/Medication: What should I do?

November 28th, 2010

I honestly feel that you should start any intervention with the most natural methods.  You will need to keep a running record of methods and outcomes to measure  the benefits.

As time goes on, what worked as a child may not work during various stages of growth and metabolism changes.  Repeat the cycle of intervention strategies taking note of possible changes. Remember each child is different.

Keep a journal, all Dr. Records and IEP’s in a safe place.  Reread them once a year as a case study to see the overall progress and growth of your child.

When one says, “what worked as a child may not work during various stages of growth and metabolism changes”. What exactly are the times of the different stages and metabolism changes?

I feel like medication should always be a last result. Our culture is so quick to pick drugs to fix problems they are so impatient to work with. Yes, it is different for certain individuals and should be handled on a case to case basis, but don’t you think America’s gone a bit far on just handing medication out for any and every reason?

Depending on the side affects that may result from a child taking medication I feel that medication can be very helpful. However, in my opinion, it is always more healthier if a child finds a natural medicine rather than putting pharmacy medications in their body. And as for once worked with a child it may not work and I agree with that because that has happened to me on many different occasions. It is frustrating trying to find the right medication that works and when you do find it, it may not be working in another 4 months or so.

yes i agree medication should always be a last result. we are so quick to pick drugs to fix everything. i believe too much medication isn’t good for children or adults.
