I 100% agree and thing that the more educationed the teachers are the better they can help the students and inform the parents who may be struggling for answers but have no where to turn.

I have voluteered in an elementary school with a special education program, and completely agree that these teachers are extremely caring individuals. They all make the students and their parents feel comfortable and help them to meet their full potential.

I think that a child's best ally is their teacher and if they can work with the parent it is even more important. Unfortuneatly like adam said...education appears to be politics and the teacher ...who is the advocate for the child must be in the front line on how to help the child not only reach their full potential, but to help the families as well.

I agree with Cynthia; we need to focus onn the positive things rather than negative. Special ed. teachers are inspiring individuals to others especially those who are interested in working with students with special needs. They help our students reach to their potential. Lets be thankful for those who are passionate about what they do.

Education appears to be full of politics which often interferes with the teachers doing their job. I imagine it is even more trying with special ed teachers because the children they work with need that special attention and care. Special education teachers have a goal to help these kids reach their full potential and it is a difficult task on its own minus all the business odds and ends. It takes a special kind of person and I commend their work.

I feel this article is very true in what it says, and also points out that we are still responsible as teachers to make sure the students are still cared for and taking care of no matter what goes on in government. This article really means a lot, and is very uplifting to know that there are people out there fighting everyday for the rights of our students, and out rights as teachers.

This means a lot to me because of my brother being deaf and going through hard times with teachers not really wanting to help him out in any way. I wish all of the teachers that he runs into want to follow this article and help him, and any student with special needs, reach their full potential

This is an inspiring article that helps remind teachers why they are doing what they are doing and to focus on the positive. So often we only focus on negative things that impact our lives that we forget to be thankful for the positive.

I agree when it says "you can take the tools that you have learned and make the child and their family feel beautiful again” Help them reach their full potential despite what is going on around you." because they really do. Just as how I volunteered at couple different special education facilities, all of the teachers that i have met were very loving and caring. Even though some of the students may be difficult to handle, they are very patient and kind and have a heart for the students. They dont try to get rid of the disability but rather help the students reach their full potential.

I really believe that special ed teachers are in a class of their own. I have always thought that it takes a special person to be a special ed teacher or caregiver, and as I have more contacts with these types of educational programs, the more convinced I am that it is true. They really put out their best effort and their heart to help children with disabilities reach their full potentials. Hats off to special ed teachers!!!!

I am now working as an aide in the special education department of a high school. The teachers that I work with are indeed the most caring and concerned people that I have ever met in regards to their students. Yes, the student ratio has increased and the paperwork is never ending, but each day these teachers come to their classes with smiles on their faces and interest in each of their students. I watch and learn just like the students that each one of them is heading in the right direction of reaching their full potential thanks to these teachers.

I feel the same. We are all here for a reason, and you really have to have a heart for this job because it takes a lot of love and support to give to these children on a daily basis.
