I think it is great that autism is getting so much attention and so much awareness is being raised for such a great cause! The more we know and the more people bring awareness to the situation the closer a reason and cure will be made! Its just all around great and its really exciting!

This video was so inspirational! I have a cousin with autism and even though I don't get to see him that often, every time I do he never ceases to amaze me. The last time I saw him I was able to take a picture with him and he was actually smiling! That picture makes my heart smile every time I see it!

I also know a 5-year-old little boy with autism who was in my class last school year. It is so true that they are used to routines and have a very difficult time when situations change. My little one loved to play with the same toys every day (a little car, a little helicopter, and a little rubber doll that resembled a gymnast girl). He held on to the toys at all times and when it was time to go home, he would leave the toys in a little basket on the same place everyday, and went back to them every morning when he arrived at school. One day somebody unaware of this routine had moved the toys. The little boy had a very difficult time, he was upset, he looked like he was lost and confused, and he would not participate in his favorites activities. All of this until we found his toys. He had the most wonderful smile when he saw the toys and seemed very happy the rest of the day.

i know a 5-year-old with autism, this little boy has a buddy who helps him do arts and crafts and plays with him. the meet at least 2 times a week and at the same time and day. one day his buddy went on a mini vacation, this cause the little boy to go confused. he acted like if he was lost because he was so use to a certain routine and do things with a certain person that when i took his buddy's place he just got lost. He was so upset that his buddy wasn't around and he could not stop asking for him. i was very surprised of how he reacted to the absent of his buddy that i felt helpless.

My brother whom is 26 years old has autism, and it is truly a blessing to have him in my life. He really opens my eyes to those out there who are just realizing that their son/daughter has autism or down syndrome and I feel for them in every way.
